Cressacres Carp Syndicate was formed in 2007 and in a very short time has gained a reputation for being a well run carp syndicate water in beautiful surroundings situated in the famous Colne Valley.
For the 2009 season, syndicate members will also enjoy fishing two more lakes, Kingfisher Pool and Longwater, which are located close to Cressacres Lake.
Cressacres is a mature seven acre lake in the heart of the famous Colne Valley, near Rickmansworth in Hertfordshire. It was dug as a typical wet gravel pit in 1975/76 along with seven other lakes which now form Croxley Hall Fisheries, including the well known Croxley Hall Carp Syndicate. Unlike many other lakes in the Colne Valley Cressacres, Longwater and Kingfisher Pool, have never been subjected to heavy angling pressure.
After extensive landscaping in 1978 Cressacres, Kingfisher Pool and Longwater became part of Croxley Hall Trout Fishery which opened in 1981. Over the next 20 years until 2001, they were fly-fished purely for trout, which allowed the resident coarse fish to grow on undisturbed, including the many carp which now populate the lakes. During 2001 and 2007 a total of 300 additional carp were introduced to supplement the existing carp stocks.
From 2001 until February 2007, the Red Spinner Angling Society leased the waters from the owner which they fished very occasionally throughout the year (excluding the old closed season dates between March 16th - June 15th). The owner has confirmed that during those six years it was rare to see more than the odd member fishing Cressacres Lake, Kingfisher Pool or Longwater.
Anglers who join Cressacres Carp Syndicate will be given priority to join the long established Croxley Hall Carp Syndicate on Croxley Carp Lake (as and when a place becomes available.) This lake now contains at least four different 40lbs carp and more than sixty carp over 30lbs with quite a few of these being 35lbs plus.
Cressacres Lake is proving to be a "runs" water rather than just a specimen water, with the possibility of catching good numbers of carp during the day and night in any one session. During 2007 carp were regularly caught over twenty pounds with many up to 29lbs. At the other end of the scale carp were caught from 3lbs to 10lbs very easily. Syndicate members are able to view the catch returns for all carp caught which are uploaded to the members area of this web site.
Cressacres also contains some of the fast growing strain of common carp that reside in Croxley Carp Lake. Stock levels are monitored very closely in order to maintain Cressacres, Longwater and kingfisher Pool as successful and exciting carp lakes. Additional further stocks of proven strains of carp will be introduced as part of an ongoing stocking programme.
Cressacres Carp Syndicate numbers are strictly limited. The season runs from 16th April until 15th March each year. Places will be offered to potential new members from our waiting list after all existing members have been offered the chance to renew their membership. All potential new members will be given a tour of the lake and its exclusive facilities after attending a short interview with the bailiffs on site before an application for membership is considered.
The facilities at Croxley Hall are well known with secure car park, Ladies and Gents toilets and regularly mown grass banks with good swims. The Fisheries are well managed by the owner and staff with several good bailiffs regularly on site.
Cressacres Carp Syndicate will suit the kind of angler that enjoys secure, peaceful fishing in a tranquil setting with excellent facilities on a well managed fishery.
